  • MS41 (OBD2) Tuning - Simple to Complex ECU Changes You Can Do Yourself

Those of you that might be interested in beginner to advanced tuning of your OBD2 cars should check out some of the work others in the community have put together. I've used these resources myself to do things from EWS delete to make adjustments to maps. I've also bricked a few ECUs in the process and then brought them back.

Busterhax has created an awesome tool for reading the ECU eeprom data, checking codes, fuel trims, and also allowing you to write back to the ECU with automatic checksum correction. He put together https://sites.google.com/site/openms41/ that contains some of the basics on getting started. His software is a paid for purchase, but well worth the $25.

Note: Pay attention to the write-access portion on openms41. You can read the ECU anytime you want. To write to it, you need to enable write-access with jumper wires on the 20-pin port.
