Should the upper trailing arm ball joints be replaced when replacing the RTAB bushings? Is it two ball joints per side?

You likely will want to replace the upper and lower ball joints, yes.

    4x of these: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...46-33326775551

Need the press tool to get them in/out. Car will need alignment when done.

Depending on the mileage, I would consider refreshing the entire rear end.

I recently replaced every suspension part (including wheel bearings) on my M3 and it made a very noticeable difference.

Agreed - they're toast at their age. You'll find they tighten the rear up nicely. It's a giant pain, but this is the time to do it.
